Boothbay Harbor, Maine Visitors Guide
The protected harbor on the peninsula between Sheepscot and the Damariscotta rivers is a favorite of boatmen. It has a number of towns along its shoes, one of which is Boothbay.
What to do in Boothbay Harbor
Boothbay Railway Village – From rides on the narrow-gauge steam engine to displays of Maine historical artifacts, and antique modes of transportation, this is the place to visit. Be sure to check out the one room school house, restored railroad stations, general store and the firefighting equipment on display.
Fort Edgecombe – The 3 acre park is the site of the 1808 Fort Edgemont Historic site – During the summer, there weekend re-enactments from the Revolutionary War, demonstrations by guides in period dress and crafts.
Marine Resources Aquarium – For hands on learning be sure to visit the touch tank here. Other exhibits include an aquarium of oversized, blue and albino lobsters, as well as many other Gulf of Main creatures.
Boothbay Region Land Trust – Nearly 900 acres especially for indigenous animals; there are 15 miles of trails and 6 public preserves.
For outdoor water adventure Boothbay offers a variety of sailing excursions ranging in length from 90 minutes to 4 hours.
