Maine Kayak & Canoeing
Freshwater and Ocean Kayaking
There are many watery adventures to choose from for experiencing Maine’s waters, and for every adventure there are a number of professional guide companies. Some raging river locations are the:
Kennebec River – A great waterway for adventures of all experience levels- whether it’s using an inflatable kayak on the upper Gorge region or racing the rapids. Child friendly trips in the lower half or overnight trips that encompass portions of the dead river and the Penobscot Rivers, assure that you have a splashing good time.
Penobscot River – Perfect for whitewater enthusiast, the Penobscot Ripogenus Gorge to Ambejesus Lake has much to offer. Much of the trip is rated as a class 5. The Penobscot is one of America’s best places, and Maine’s most challenging river.
The Dead River – For continuous whitewater and class 4 excitement, hire a guide and make your way down the river.
To enjoy kayaking and canoeing, a favorite Maine getaway is found at the entrance to John’s Bay and Muskingum Bay. As you paddle along you will see a variety of bird species and indigenous wildlife.
