State Parks
Baxter State Park (Millinocket) is 200,000 acres of wilderness and is the largest area of its type in Maine. There are no paved roads in the, nor are there utility hookups available. However, the campgrounds stay booked months in advance as many are clamoring for the opportunity to bask in its natural beauty.
Lake St. George State Park (Belfast) has over 360 acres of outdoor adventure. There are assorted water sports, winter adventure like snowmobiling and skiing as well as picnic and camping facilities.
Mount Blue State Park (Rumford) – From swimming to fishing and boating to hiking there is no end to summertime adventure. Winter wonderland experiences include skiing and snowmobiling. Year round fun can be found hiking Mt. Blue and picnicking.
National Parks
Acadia National Park (Bar Harbor), as one of America’s top ten most visited parks, the breathtaking beautiful park is a nature lovers paradise. It has 120 miles of trails to be explored – whether you choose hiking, biking, horseback riding or even shoe shoeing and skiing, the sights around Jordan Pond, Eagle Lake and Sergeant and Penobscot mountains is divine. There is a 20 mile scenic drive along sand beach, Thunder hole, and Cadillac Mountain; the flowers at De Mont’s Spring, and during the summer go swimming at Echo Lake or Sand Beach. If you wish to take your time and enjoy an extended stay, there are 2 campgrounds.
Aroostook State Park (Rangeley) - For a wide selection of outdoor fun visit this 577 acre park. You can enjoy swimming, fishing, and boating during the summer or hit the slopes as you go skiing, snowshoeing or snowmobiling during the summer. There is also hiking, picnicking and camping available.
White Mt. National Forest (Bethel) – Over 49,000 acres of timber land rich in sugar maples and birch trees. Although beautiful in any season its foliage is especially gorgeous in the fall with its red and gold leaves. The forest is a special favorite hiking, rock climbing, fishing and camping.
